Kevin Krumenauer<\/h1>\n

Composer and bass trombonist Kevin Krumenauer strives to create space for contemplation, wonder, beauty, and transformation amid the chaos and struggle of life. A former Deacon in the Episcopal Church, his music frequently concerns itself with issues of transcendence: sacred and mystical experience, synaesthesia, dance. In combination with his compositional interests\u2014propulsive rhythms, motivic forms, and unexpected uses of traditional tonal harmony\u2014these diverse preoccupations have led to work that invites performers and audiences to feel emotionally connected to the music, themselves and each other. <\/p>\n

His works for wind ensemble and orchestra, as well as his sacred works, have been heard throughout the United States, and his chamber and vocal music have been performed both nationally and internationally (Paris, France; Capetown, South Africa). Commissions include Charles River Wind Ensemble, Dartmouth College, Ass3mbly, Five One Experimental Orchestra (51XO), Boston Conservatory of Music, Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, Illinois State University, The University of Alabama at Huntsville, Kent State University, and Case Western Reserve University. <\/p>\n

Studies include Composition with Margaret Brouwer and Bass Trombone with Thomas Klaber at the Cleveland Institute of Music (Master of Music, 2003), Theology at the Ashland Theological Seminary (Master of Arts, 2012), and private study and mentorship with David Maslanka (1997-2017). He currently serves on the staff of the Cleveland Institute of Music and is a lecturer at Case Western Reserve University.
